Avéli TM is a new and minimally invasive and FDA-approved treatment for cellulite. Cellulite are depressions on the surface of the skin, which typically occurs on the buttocks and thighs. Cellulite is quite common, and nearly all women, irrespective of their shape and size, have some form of cellulite. There are several causes of cellulite, including skin laxity and excess fat, but a major underlying cause of cellulite are fibrous brands called septa which tether the skin to the underlying structures. Avéli TM works by surgically releasing septae causing cellulite. At the time of your consultation, Dr. Li will analyze your buttocks and thighs in detail and discuss whether Avéli TM is a good option for you.
The procedure can be performed under local anesthetic (awake), sedation, or general anesthetic. It can also be performed as a standalone treatment or in combination with any buttock fat transfer or grafting procedure. The procedure is relatively straightforward and takes approximately an hour. After identifying your areas of cellulite, Dr. Li will insert the Avéli TM device underneath your skin in the targeted areas. The device is a light-guided wand ensuring precise placement. Once positioned underneath your cellulite, the device is then activated which causes a small blade to pop out, and then the septae are manually cut by Dr. Li, providing real-time correction of your cellulite.
Avéli TM involves minimal risk and limited downtime with longstanding results. The most common side effects of treatment were pain, mild bruising, swelling, and tenderness involving the surgical sites, which resolved within a month. Results and benefits can also be seen approximately 1 month after treatment. Patients can return to most activities within 24-48 hours; however, it is recommended to avoid strenuous exercise and to wear a compression garment for several weeks.
